HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR HAIR AT HOME

As we spend more time at home, our Co-Founder Emilia shares her top tips on how to look after your hair in the comfort of your own home.

Avoid DIY Cuts & Colours

Whilst you may be tempted to reach for the scissors to cut off those annoying split ends and to experiment with a home hair dye for the first time to colour your roots, I would recommend that you don’t cut or colour your hair until you see your hairdresser, unless you are used to regularly colouring your hair at home. For a short-term solution, you could use a root concealer in a shade that matches your preferred hair colour to temporarily disguise your roots.

Condition

If your hair is feeling dry, dehydrated and lacklustre, give your hair an instant moisture boost by applying an intensive conditioning treatment to your hair. I would recommend using an intensive hair repair mask or nutrient rich hair oil treatment to nourish and hydrate your hair.

Avoid Hair Overheating

Try to limit the use of hair dryers, hair straighteners and heated hair styling appliances and allow your hair to dry naturally where possible.

Exercise

Exercise regularly (there is no need to go out, you can simply do your work out on the floor at home) to improve blood flow to the scalp, allowing more nutrients to reach hair follicles.

Diet

It is important that you eat a healthy and balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables (these are rich in antioxidants) and proteins such as meat, fish, eggs. If you are vegetarian or vegan you may look to add legumes, seeds and nuts into your diet.

Supplements

If you are struggling to gain the right balance of nutrients in your diet, you may consider taking a nutritional supplement, such as Beauty Peak Hair to ensure you are getting the optimum intake of daily nutrients that you need to support your hair. Low levels of iron, vitamin D, vitamin B3, vitamin B12, biotin and zinc can all have an impact on your hair. If you are concerned that you may have a deficiency or have been experiencing any form of hair loss, it is important that you speak to your GP.
